tomorrows

OK so i want to encourage everyone to do one thing a week to work towards a healthier you.  You hear all the time o ill start tomorrow, next week, o after the holidays. Tomorrows never come but todays are here now. I have been reading and reading blogs of others who have gone before me and done this. For those that know me well you know reading isn't my strong suit but im doing it anyway, another life change for me. Anyway i digress, I read about a man who lost almost 200 lbs by changing just the little things and no exercise  at all. Thats right none he had some kind of issue where he couldn't. It took him 21 months to do this and he started by just changing little things. So like if he went to mcdonalds and normally got a big mac meal super sized he would get it regular sized and take the middle bun out and eat it. anywhere you can cut calories do it. You don't always have to go into this things full force alot of times that fails people cause they let them selves down to easily. Also just cause you get off track for a meal, a day, a few days, is no reason to throw a whole life change away. So what you screwed up one day ok well so that day you had more calories then you should doesn't mean you should continue to not care and give up jump back onto your journey and keep on trucking.  IF out of 30 days you screw up 5 times you still have 25 days where you rocked it and you will see that translate into your journey. Also plateaus you will have them do not let them discourage you this usually means your doing what your suppose to and your body isn't ready for change but hang in there it will let it go once it knows you aren't gonna give in. Ok so i hope this helps just one person today to feel encouraged you are capable you can do this and you are worthy. So no more tomorrows change something no matter how small today.

over coming disappointment

Ok so as you all know i have cut my calories to 800-900 a day so when i stood on the scale this morning and i only lost 1lb i was very upset. But then i had to turn it around and change my way of thinking. I lost i didn't gain and its perfectly normal at week 3 to hit a wall but you must stick with it and it will come off. So i will be excited about my pound its one pound closer to where i am going, its one more pound off my fat butt and its one more victory no matter how small.

Ok so for some kinda fun stuff. Who loves peanut butter? ME ME i love peanut just about anything and i love my peanut butter. So who knows peanut butter has a decent amount of protein in it? ME ME well who knows that peanut butter also has a good bit of calories for only 2 little damn table spoons of peanut butter? ME ME well i have discovered and great alternative. Now unlike a veggie burger not really satisfying  the craving for a regular burger this stuff actually does take care of the peanut butter craving.
Now a couple things you should know they do sell this in stores however i haven't been able to find it i got this at my baratric clinic. it is powdered i know that kind of turns you off of it, it did me to but wait. So i get this stuff which by the way comes in chocolate also. i read the label it has 45 calories for 2 table spoons yes you read that right 45 and 5 grams of protein. So i make this stuff which isn't hard you just mix with water and at first i wasn't found of it and didn't think i would be able to use it instead of peanut butter i mean come on its a powder. Well the second time i made it i put it in the fridge and it totally helped the consistency problem i was feeling it had and i have been eating it with my apple slices every since. so for just a little over a 100 calories i have a great snack that totally cures the craving of that guilted peanut butter.

5lbs

Ok so i know its been awhile since i blogged but as i told you it would be with this weird diet i put myself on. I wouldn't call it a liquid diet but a calorie restricted diet. So I am restricting my calories to 800-900 a day. Please don't follow in my footsteps if you haven't cleared it through a doctor first. And you most certainly when doing this don't want those 800-900 calories to be just anything. they need to be protein filled and nutritious.

So since monday thats seven days with one higher calorie day on saturday i lost 5lbs. So im totally excited and im gonna add some exercise this week and hope that helps speed up the process some. its not gonna be tons of exercise but something on the xbox probably. So i will share with you what i have been eating on my not very excited diet.
First of all this is the guideline my doctor gave me for meal replacement shakes. You have to be careful there are lots of them out that, that appear healthy and you could have gone to mcdonalds for whats in them so make sure you are reading your labels.


So what i have been doing is eating every three hours. So first meal of the day i have a protein shake. 
All of these follow those guidelines and aren't gross lol
Then 3 hours later i have a 100 calorie snack. now this can be whatever you want it to be. Mine are either a small apple and a cheese stick, a greek yogurt or a huge amount of veggies depending on how hungry i am. 
but for those out there that are like me and what quantity on your plate veggies are the way to go. 4 cups of cauliflower is 100 calories however thats a shit ton of cauliflower so i might have a cup and a cheese stick instead. 
Now since i work night shift i try to save a shake and two hundred calories to eat while im there.


Know this if you do decide to do this you will be hungry, its takes time to fight the addict in side and all the bad habits you have. So when your hungry drink water and lots of it. Also keep busy and remind yourself you will eat again in a couple of hours your not really starving you just think you are. Just like you would tell your kids if they were still screaming about being hungry even tho they just ate a 5 course meal.

so so

Well thats how im feeling about my appointment today. So first the good things that happened i lost 2 more pounds. I know that isn't much however since i quit smoking and had a super stressful weekend and i still lost something thats pretty damn awesome. The other good thing at the appointment no sleep study yippy those things suck. Now for the bad i have to lose 30 lbs before we can submit to the insurance company for approval. So this could set me back getting my surgery before christmas, However now is the time to put my head down dig deep and get this shit done. So i am going to give myself one binge day to eat the couple things i have been craving then im going all liquid until these 30lbs are gone. yes its gonna be hard but it is doable it just sucks. But this like all the rest of this stuff is mind over matter. And i am stronger now then i have ever been so i know i got this.  Now with all this happening know my blogs will be fewer cause i will not be cooking and i will not have much to talk about lol. I will keep everyone updated and let you know how i am feeling during the process however. So hopefully i can knock this 30lbs out in a month or so and be on my way.

excited

Im getting excited i meet with the surgeon on wed to discuss whatever needs discussing and ill get weighed and know how im doing. Meeting with the surgeon is just one more step on the road to getting my surgery. Then before the end of the month i meet with Pam the shrink. They have to make sure your mentally capable of handling the surgery which i am lol im sure that will go fine. Hopefully the surgeon will not make me do any more then blood test before surgery cause a sleep study could take awhile and will hold everything up. However if he doesn't make me there is a good chance i could have this surgery before christmas how exciting is that.  Ok on to food stuff i got these from the store the other day. They are 50 calories and 6g of protein pretty awesome stuff right there.

Confession

OK so I haven't been so good this weekend however I still haven't had a smoke and I didn't binge. I did however take myself on a date and enjoyed my dinner I didn't eat it all in one setting and I treated myself to sweet frog but I only filled the small cup half way and no toppings. Then today at the pumpkin patch we were all starving and not a healthy thing in sight so I did chose cheesy fries hoping they would be more filling then the other options. Other then those two meals I have been very good this weekend. So you might be wondering why I'm sharing this well there's two reasons one to be honest with anyone following my story so people know yes I'm not perfect or am I trying to be all the time. And the other to show just cause you make a choice to have a high calorie meal doesn't mean it needs to last past that meal and that you don't have to let it ruin your whole diet or progress on your life change.

  OK so todays lesson just cause the box says its tuna helper doesn't mean thats what it has to become when your done. first things first i paid a buck for this box of tuna helper thats suppose to feed 5. It has 130 calories as packaged which since i didn't prepare it like the package says we will go by that and add the calories from the rest. 

Now you will remember that i used a pack of these bratwurst a couple weeks ago and i payed a buck for them. well i only used 3 of them for what i made for dinner. I also bulked up the whole dinner with a quarter pack of mixed frozen veggies.


and this is what it looks like when its done and it was 422 calories and a buck fifty to make and fed us all with a little left over for lunch.


the last thing i found these today at weis now i don't normal shop there unless they are having great 10 for 10 sales but i wanted to see what they had today and i was near there so i went in. So i found these little gems 10 for 10. now this particular one is 190 calories and 30 g of protein and only 6 g of sugar it doesn't get much better then that. Now i don't recommend drinking your calories unless your replacing a meal with it. now if you decide to go get these know there are 3 different flavors and the labels on the other flavors are kinda tricky so make sure you read them well just so you know what your putting in your body. the other thing you should know is the flavor of this i guess cause it has less sugar is not exactly chocolate milk like but close enough and not horrible like a lot of those high protein shakes you get. so try it you might just like it and its a great alternative for those busy mornings.

So i am officially nicotine free for over a week, its harder then hell but totally worth it. My strength is going to be tested this weekend but i will be ok everything is a choice and i will make the choice to do healthy things through my stressful weekend instead of things that will only destroy me.
Ok so this has been my breakfast of choice the last couple of days. I don't know why none of my food photographs well but it taste fab and takes maybe 5 minutes to make. So i toast two slices of bread put some spray butter on it then i slice some avocado put it on the bread and then i make two dippy eggs. Now this is a higher calorie breakfast but its not gonna brake the bank, its healthy and very satisfying 
Now this i got from sharp shopper 3.31 for almost 1.5 pounds of meat. and i turned this into this.


I put it in the slow cooker and let it cook literly all day and it just fell apart. then i put just a little bit of bbq sauce on it for sandwiches its 160 calories for 4 oz so pretty awesome. O and a winner with the children

Ok so you see what looks like a yellow square. Those my friends are wonton wrappers and you can use them for a ton of things. 4 sheets is a serving and is 80 calories. I use them to make like pot stickers. Or dipping chips. I put them in a pile and cut them into fours now a cookie sheet will hold two servings of chips. I spray butter the cookie sheet then lay out my chips and spray butter the top of the chips and put just a sprinkle of sea salt on them. Then i bake them on 350 for 10 to 15 minutes watch them they go from not done to burnt really quick.

Now this is what i had for lunch yesterday. I tried that chicken salad with avacado i have been seeing on facebook. If i were going to make it again i would use fresh chicken not canned like i did and i would use more avacado. I did put a squeeze of low fat mircle whip and it seemed to help the canned chicken. this whole dish was 518 calories now mind you that was 2 servings of chips and 2.5 servings of the chicken salad stuff with 30g of protein i was very satisfied after i ate this.


This was dinner and it was 350 calories of yumminess. Those little potatoes are awesome they are called baby dutch yellow potatoes and they are only 80 calories for 3/4 of a cup what a great way to get a potato fix. Now its hard to tell but that is panko crusted pork chop. I did this by using some egg white egg beaters, panko and i seasoned the crumbs.  i put the chops in the eggs then the crumbs and put them on a baking sheet. i put them in the oven at 425 for 15 minutes then i flipped them and put them in for 17 minutes more now these are really thick chops so if yours are skinny your gonna want to use less time. then we had some tomato slices they are a great way to throw some color in there for little calories.
